The Christian Life 2020: Playing A Game of Ludo Teaches Much About Life

Revealing the Christian Life banner

Playing a game of Ludo reveals much about life.

Everything in life will never go the way you want it to. This is clearly demonstrated when we play board games, which actively and consistently pits one person against another or one team against the other.

A husband and wife were playing a game of ludo.

They were both from different cultural backgrounds and had different points of view on life. They were both very competitive and took every chance to goad the other. This was very clear every time they threw the dice and another player had a chance to advance the pieces on the board.

One thing was clear after each game, they loved each other. They left the arguing, goading and competition on the board until they returned.

However, this new game was different. For the first time, the husband was winning the wife. The husband had won five games, and the wife only one.

For many weeks, they had decided to play the games according to the rules, which she knew from her home country. In this current game, she moved her pieces to block his men from coming onto the board from his home turf – at his gate, for those who are familiar with the game. The husband refused to play any further because this set of rules was not explained to him before.

In life, we never know the rules, until we encounter situations. But, we cannot give up, just because they do not suit us. If so, we would never overcome any obstacles, we would never even make it into adulthood.

Just like the Ludo game, life has unexpected outcomes and challenges.

We must use our minds, hearts, and spirits to overcome them. However, we also have another alternative as Christians.

We have Jesus Christ, who is our personal Saviour.

Jesus said that he would never leave us nor forsake us, He will always be there for us.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? – Romans 8:28-32

Whether we are faced with the death of a loved one, not being able to provide food, clothing, or shelter for our family, or even if we face the coronavirus – God is always with us.

Do not quit.

Do not throw down your hands and admit defeat.

Do not allow others to steal your zeal for life.

Do not allow challenges to break you.

Do not allow your emotions to cloud your judgment.

Trust that God has your back. He will carry you when you are weak. He will provide food, clothing, shelter, and love for you when you have no hope. He is the father to the fatherless and the defender of all those who trust him to defend them.

Be Encouraged

Remember,

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.- Romans 8:38-39

The next time you face a challenge in life, proceed with God as your guide.

You do not need to know the rules of life to move forward. God created man. He created life. If you trust Him, he will protect you, guide you, and deliver you out of every challenge you face.

And the next time you are playing a game, think about what you would do if it was real life.

Be blessed.
